At first glance, Axel– the once-lonely Gnoll– might strike you as a rough, unpersonable fellow: gruff and aloof. But get within that exterior, and you couldn't find a more loyal, more thoughtful, friend (although the name-calling will never stop!). He values those he loves far more than himself, which gets him into trouble, but– with their help– he's learning to find his own worth, too. While he is also extremely strong, he is smarter than most (surprising many of the world's more prejudiced inhabitants) and fights using his strengt to his greatest advantage, combined with his ability to hear even the smallest whispers within a large radius. He typically fights with an axe. He is 7’8”.

Legend says that when you look into a gnoll's red eyes, you're cursed to seven years of bad luck. Turns out people who claim this are wrong on multiple levels; while gnolls' eyes often appear red, they're simply highly reflective (like cats' eyes, but reflecting red instead of green). In dim-light conditions they appear more white.
